Non Executive Director

We run our own business. Each of us have been part of large and small organisations and institutions. You do not engage with us as lawyers for these services, but our mind set.

We have a unique set of skills and experience. The directors of Medici Legal come from a diverse range of businesses. Not just the legal profession, but backgrounds in start up businesses, raising capital and developing small to medium size businesses.

Why are we in the NED business?

Everything about Medici Legal, even down to it's business structure, is different. The firm was launched, funded, and is majority owned by non-lawyers. We think this is an integral part of who we are and what we offer clients. Medici Legal was founded on the premise that the legal sector was not serving the needs of smaller firms properly (particularly fintech businesses). So, the directors of the firm are passionate about supporting younger, innovative companies in any way they can. Aside from legal advice, we think our skills are applicable to a Non Executive Director role - and we are delighted to offer that service.

Every business is unique, but they all operate to the same objectives; making money in a good way, mitigating risk, and delivering on firm objectives. Our analysis of risk, understanding of business development, and problem solving capabilities offers an unexampled proposition which we think could help businesses make better decisions.

Who do we work with?

NEDS are useful throughout the business cycle.  We would be flattered to have a conversation with any company.  We are simply excited by the prospect of being involved along with you in your business.

You can appoint us as individuals or we can provide you with added flexibility by appointing our NED firm

And you might want any one of us to be appointed for:

  • Efficiently solving problems that arise;

  • Communicating with third parties;

  • Ensuring audit requirements are satisfied;

  • Remuneration of the executive directors;

  • Appointing the board of directors.

We would be happy to work with companies looking for a NED that shows:

  • Independence;

  • Impartiality;

  • Wide experience or special knowledge;

  • Personal qualities.

How we will help?

Medici Legal enjoys the positive role as 'strategic enablers' of your firm's growth in your sector.

We will explain what the legislation actually means: all of it as it applies to you.

Our aim is to demystify regulation and the law and present our understanding in an accessible form which makes sense to you. We do the hard work; research, analysis and summarise raw legislation and regulation to address your needs.  That means you do not waste your time trying to make sense of it on your own; leaving you with more time and better conclusions to focus on your objectives.

We can work with you as if we were your inhouse legal team. Equally we can operate alongside your in-house legal and compliance teams, offering a hand in glove service. Our experience and areas of expertise lend itself well to an outsourced advice service - we will identify the legal issues and the associated legal concerns within the areas of our remit and then report our findings and guidance back to you

See here for more information on our legal service provision.

Where is the legal risk?

As a NED we are well rounded individuals, but no one can avoid legal risk.  The talent of the NED is recognising how to deal with business risk and issues on a strategic and tactical basis, monitoring delivery effectively .

The business environment, whichever one we work in, means that you are involved in commercial relationships, working to your own industry regulatory framework.

The professional business person has many hurdles to overcome, many of these stem from the legislative and regulatory framework or the commercial agreements signed up to: all together these have created a kaleidoscopic regulatory framework to take into account in your business.

Do we need to mention the constant challenge of constant change to deal with?
